WHAT WE DO
WE WORK TO REPORT ALL THE TRANSACTIONS WITHIN A TRUST, ESTATE OR CONSERVATORSHIP AND UNDERSTANDING THE NUANCES OF EACH CASE TO PRESENT A NARRATIVE THAT WILL BE UNDERSTOOD BY ALL.
A fiduciary accounting is a comprehensive report of the activity within a trust, estate, or conservatorship that is prepared in accordance with the California Probate Code. Our clients, which include attorneys, bank trust departments, individual trustees, and court-appointed administrators, look to FAS to fulfill the following duties:
We assist our clients to identify, gather, and organize the bank statements and supporting documents required to complete the fiduciary accounting.
Our review of each case includes identifying and confirming the assets held in the trust or estate, ensuring all assets have been accounted and verified.
We document each transaction separately, confirm and clarify transaction descriptions, and report each transaction on the appropriate accounting schedule.
Income Vs Principal
Our extensive experience and knowledge of UPAIA requirements allows us to complete the allocations of income and principal quickly and accurately.
In the event of closures or legal settlements, we will prepare a proposed distribution schedule to clearly present the division of assets between beneficiaries.
Fiduciary Accounting Review
We will review and correct any previously prepared accounting's that are out of balance or incomplete to present a narrative that will be understood by all.
HOW WE WORK
OUR PROVEN METHODOLOGY WILL TRANSFORM DETAILS AND CLARIFY COMPLEX TRANSACTIONS, RESULTING IN A FIDUCIARY ACCOUNTING THAT PROVIDES YOU WITH CONFIDENCE IN YOUR ROLE AS TRUSTEE, EXECUTOR OR CONSERVATOR.
Our process begins with a review of the case, including an understanding of the assets, the trustee or executor’s role to date, and the reason for preparing the accountings. We then proceed to a deeper understanding of each individual asset, including title, institution and activity level allowing FAS to identify the documentation and research that will be required to complete the fiduciary accounting. Our experience allows us to move through the documentation quickly and effectively to identify any missing information and complete the schedules. Finally, we will present a draft of the fiduciary accounting for your review including suggested footnotes or supplemental schedules.
FOR THE TRUSTEE / EXECUTOR / CONSERVATOR
We understand this can be a stressful and potentially overwhelming process. We will seamlessly navigate this process, ensuring that all required information is gathered and ultimately presented in a full and accurate account of the activity under your responsibility for discussion with your counsel or other third parties.
